A team of researchers assessed the psychological profiles of 101 obese patients undergoing a combination nutrition and exercise therapy at the Kansai Medical University Hospital Obesity Clinic. Improved self awareness was facilitated through counseling sessions, and was found to help weight loss efforts – but too many optimistic traits were associated with less success.
The APA has released its most recent Stress in America survey, and has found that financial concerns are the leading source of stress for 71% of Americans this holiday season. Other stressors include work, family responsibilities, painful memories, and being alone. Even children are feeling the strain. The study finds that children are nearly two times more likely to worry about financial concerns than their parents realize.
Another state to recently pass a concussion law is North Carolina. The Gfeller-Waller Concussion Act was signed into law in July 2011. The law is named after two young high school players who died after football related head injuries in 2009.
